Qualicum Manor

Qualicum Manor provides 24-hour nursing care to 60 residents in a gracious, home-like atmosphere. We offer a range of resident and family-centred services to both Island Health subsidized residents as well as residents who pay privately for their care. Our team is guided by the needs of our residents with a focus on enhancing the quality of care by encouraging residents and their families to be equal partners in care. Our philosophy is founded on respecting the dignity and worth of each resident as we seek to serve physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Qualicum Manor was designed and constructed to maximize resident quality of life and to promote life enriching care. On each of our 3 spacious floors there is a cozy visiting area, large screen television, kitchenette to provide ready access to snacks and hot or cold beverages, a dining room designed with resident comfort in mind and a central bathing area. Each floor is also equipped with secure storage for all resident prescription medications. Residents do not keep medications in their rooms. All resident rooms have a large, private bathroom, individually controlled heating and a nurse call system. Rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser and wardrobe. Residents are encouraged to bring in small personal items to make their rooms feel like home. Our main floor has an accessible patio area for residents to enjoy an outdoor garden in a secure setting. Weather permitting, this space is often used for family visiting, happy hour, musical entertainment, or simply to relax and enjoy the flowers and birds. We are fortunate to have a local physician as our Medical Director who is the doctor for all residents at Qualicum Manor. This approach provides an exceptional level of communication within the interdisciplinary team and ensures that changes in residents’ health status are addressed in a timely manner. Our Chef and Dietician oversee all dietary services and ensure specialized meals and therapeutic diets are available.
